Scott Sedita – Author/Acting Coach
How to Make it in Hollywood
Scott Sedita’s seminar, Guide To Making It In Hollywood, lays out everything an actor needs to know to launch a career in the entertainment capital of the world. Tapping into his 25 years of experience in the business, renowned acting coach, author, and TV personality Scott Sedita, breaks down the Three Steps to Success: Talent, Confidence, and Perseverance, and shows how these elements work together to build a successful acting career.
Further, Scott takes a unique approach in highlighting the many obstacles actors face when pursuing their dream in Hollywood. Scott explains how actors must identify and avoid the Three Steps to Failure: Distractions, Addictions, and Wrong Actions.
One of the most well respected and busiest acting coaches in Hollywood, Scott is currently filming a new VH1 reality show entitled Hollywood, which revolves around his acting class. In the past year, he has starred as the acting coach on the E! series Fight For Fame, USA Network’s Character Fantasy, Fox Sports Network’s Helmets Off and MTV’s Adventures In Hollywood. He is also the author of the best-selling comedy book, The Eight Characters of Comedy, A Guide to Sitcom Acting and Writing.
A graduate of Boston University’s Film and Television program, Scott began his career in New York as a talent agent, where he helped to launch the careers of many of today’s top stars, including Courtney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Teri Polo, Christopher Meloni, Dylan Walsh, Jerry O’Connell and Vincent D’Onofrio, just to name a few.
In 1990, Scott relocated to Los Angeles where he worked as a sitcom writer for Howie Mandel, Bobcat Goldthwait, and others. In the mid-90s, Scott worked as a casting director for Danny Goldman Casting until launching Scott Sedita Acting Studios in 1998.
Today, Scott and his staff teach the craft of acting to the hundreds of actors who walk through his doors on a weekly basis. Scott has coached and taught many hot new actors such as Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas), Jennifer Finnigan (Close To Home), Chase Crawford (Gossip Girl), Brandon Routh (Superman Returns) and many others stars of film, soaps, prime time dramas and sitcoms.
As The Eight Characters of Comedy fast becomes the ‘must read’ book for actors (as well as a text book for colleges and universities), it’s also becoming an important read for comedy writers and producers. Scott has been hired as a Comedy Consultant on sitcoms in the United States and Canada.
Scott has appeared on numerous TV talk shows and can be heard on radio stations around the world as the “Hollywood Expert.” He’s been featured in such publications as; Soap Opera Digest, Inside TV, Backstage West and TV Soap to name a few. He has also appeared on many TV Magazine and reality shows such as Extra, Starting Over and Faking It. KTLA Channel 5 did a story on Scott entitled “Where Young Hollywood Goes and Studies” and referred to him as “one of the hottest coaches in town.” Scott’s new book, Scott Sedita’s Guide To Making It In Hollywood: 3 Steps to Success, 3 Steps to Failure, is in stores May 1, 2008.
